The Cancer Run organized is organized annually in August by the Rotary Club of Uganda. The goal is to fundraise for improvement of cancer care in Uganda. The purpose of the 2017 edition of the run was to raise funds to build a bunker for the Linear Accelerator machine that was acquired last year, at the Rotary Centenary Bank Cancer Centre at St. Francis Hospital, Nsambya in Kampala, Uganda.

 

The event which was majorly sponsored by Centenary Bank and the Parliament of Uganda had over 35,000 runners taking part in 32 venues across the country. The 2017 edition of the event raised collected a gross revenue of Shs1.1 billion (about $300,000) and a net of Shs740 million (about $204,000).  The races in which people took part included the 5 kilometer, 10 kilometer and 21 kilometer.
