" Calabar cancer registry (CCR) is located in the Pathology department of the 451-bed University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar (UCTH). CCR though started in 1979, as a Hospital-based tumor registry, reporting cancer cases at the UCTH. In 2009, CCR became a member of NSCR and the registry is now a Population-Based Cancer Registry (PBCR). CCR has presented its data at various local and international conferences. The most common cancers in Calabar were also reported in the IARC scientific publication Cancer in Africa, in 2003 (Parkin et al) and more recently in the GLOBOCAN 2012 database of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) where data alongside that from the Ibadan cancer registry and the Abuja cancer registry were collated to derive national cancer statistics for Nigeria. The Calabar cancer registry is a member of the African Cancer Registry Network and the International Association of Cancer Registries (IARC)"
