The Consortium has long been an integral part of the Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) program, with Dr. Stephen Schwartz (Cancer Epi, Prev and Control Program) serving as the PI of the Seattle-Puget Sound Cancer Registry. Through an inter-programmatic collaboration, Dr. Schwartz assisted researchers in Uganda to enhance the utility of the well-established Kampala Cancer Registry (Parkin et al.,Cancer Causes Control, 2001) for global oncology research. A more comprehensive set of data fields is now captured by the Kampala registry, which was adapted from the SEER data instruments.
