Decisions regarding infectious disease control are increasingly made with significant input from mathematical and economic models. The aim of the research program is to use modeling to study the natural history and transmission dynamics of infectious diseases, predict the effectiveness/cost-effectiveness of control strategies, and identify optimal strategies to reduce health inequalities. Research will mainly focus on the study and control of human papillomavirus related diseases, varicella and herpes zoster at the population-level and within vulnerable subgroups. The work will be used to address methodological challenges related to infectious disease modeling and economic evaluation to provide better tools for policy decision-making.
