NCI has begun a pilot study to test the feasibility of conducting a case-control study with biosamples to explore a wide range of etiologic factors for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in Western Kenya. The pilot study will test the ability to recruit different control groups and cases, as well as the ability to successfully deliver the questionnaire and to collect and ship biological samples. All subjects will be interviewed using a structured questionnaire and will be asked to provide biological samples including blood and urine.
