The program, which will run for two years, will be managed by a pharmacist or pharmacy technician who has experience in morphine production in Uganda. The individual will undertake the following tasks, under the direction of the Programmes Director of APCA:
1. Creation of simple, clear guidance in the production of affordable oral morphine solution, including production, quality assurance, ingredient sourcing, labeling and storage, human resources, planning, and documentation.
2. Technical support to hospitals or ministries of health in Sub-Saharan Africa who request assistance to support the local production of oral morphine solution. This may include traveling to other countries and spending time working with local teams to set up or continue production of oral morphine solution and providing supportive mentoring, advice, demonstrations, or assistance with planning and budgeting.
3. Development and implementation of an appropriate training and mentorship program, including materials for morphine production.
4. Documentation of all forms of support provided to countries.
5. Prepare periodic narrative reports for management and for the donor.
